Episode 39: Jack Weidinger

Jack Weidinger, President of North Bay Cadillac and Cadillac Dealer Co-Chair, is all in on Cadillac. With the Escalade IQ coming in 2025, plus dozens of EVs across GM’s portfolio, Jack’s position as the top Cadillac dealer adviser means he’s laser-focused on GMF and Cadillac Financial supporting a growing EV lineup that he and many others have invested heavily in. For Jack, that means doubling down on lease. And after three years with GMF, he’s put his floorplan on autopilot, earning Dealer Dividends® and maximizing his net rate so he can focus on running — and growing — his top-performing store outside New York City.

Leasing’s Impact in 2025

"We can focus on the right things, and it creates more value in the dealership brand.”

Everything about North Bay Cadillac says lease, from selling a premium brand to being in a high lease market. With dozens of EVs dropping in 2025, Jack believes that lease can offer a more affordable payment on higher MSRP models. And lease customers never leave the GM network, which makes customer retention a built-in benefit. “Across the nation, leasing has very high penetration with EVs. It’s also the characteristic of a premium brand,” he says.

Over the years, Jack's utilized GMF’s ability to be on the inside track, helping to build a financial infrastructure to support GM’s new lineup of models and his dealership’s expansion. “Financing with the captive allows a dealer to smooth out a lot of the bumps in the road with the higher penetration of leasing and managing the customer ownership cycle,” he says.

The Value of the Right Captive

"The most successful dealers adapt the best to whatever market conditions come our way.”

Jack is a third-generation dealer with a store in the family since 1938. Over the years, his family has seen how the market has evolved, which is why he looked to the captive to boost his business. Finding one with the right tools and expertise to help finance leases and offer support were both crucial considerations for Jack.

Initially, he waited until a critical mass of dealers floorplanned before getting on board with GMF in 2021. Three years later, Jack and his team have dug into the value of GMF's floorplan to complement Cadillac’s progressive direction. “With all the growth we’ve experienced over the last five years, there are just that many more reasons to focus on the Cadillac brand, and floorplan support definitely helps with that.”

What you can do: Making the switch to GMF floorplan could boost your dealership’s profitability and help you get a leg up in today’s market. Talk to your GMF Rep about a no-risk 120-day floorplan test drive.

A Rewarding Experience

"GMF’s rewards program is a great program to focus on and to manage our expenses.”

Dealers like Jack who go all in with GMF can take advantage of several benefits that are exclusive to GMF floorplan, like Dealer Dividends. With Cadillac’s new lineup, Jack is seeing higher transaction prices, and the average cost of floorplan inventory is increasing, but he’s not worried.

“GMF is going to make that expansion of lines easy because they know all this already. They’re anticipating it,” he says. Jack uses the Dealer Dividends his store earns to offset costs, which ultimately helps his profitability. “GMF offers opportunities to earn a lot of income. That’s really what you need as you’re growing a business and needing to be nimble while managing and being close to the customer.” Dealer Dividends is, “very clear, it’s attainable, it’s lucrative, and other captives don’t offer that. It’s a real benefit.”

What you can do: Capitalize on GMF’s and Cadillac Financial’s benefits. Take advantage of all the opportunities to rake in cash, including higher payouts as you reach higher Dealer Dividends tiers.
